It is characterized by the destruction of the periodontium or the supporting tissues of the teeth or implants (gingival tissue, periodontal ligament, and alveolar bone). In addition, it is a feature of maxillo-mandibular bone marrow defects, correlated with tooth loss and peri-implantitis. Therefore, we have focused on immunomodulation of chronic inflammation of these conditions.
